Definition of Names Defined a domain name is a way of addressing used for identifying and locating computers on the Internet. While computers use Internet Protocol (IP) numbers to locate each other on the Internet, it's not easy for people to remember IP. Therefore, domain names were used as easily remembered words and phrases to identify Internet addresses IP. Domain name format - A domain name is not case sensitive. - A domain name should be at least 2 and no more than 24 alphanumeric characters per name excluding the extension like .CO, ORG or .EDU and the country extension OM. "www." and http://www. are not considered part of your domain name and therefore don't count towards the 24 character total. - Character could only be "A" - "Z", "0" - "9", and "-"., - The first character should not be "-". - The following characters are specifically excluded "_" and "/". - Registering a domain name does not confer any legal rights to that name. - Generic names (e.g., www, internet) and famous people will not be registered under any domain unless for authorized entities those officially represent the corresponding names. - Family names will not be registered under any of second level domains. - Domain names must not contain obscene words. - If the domain name violates the Omani traditional community, OMnic then will revoke that domain immediately.
